The Story of the Drop
From Lockdown Side-Hustle to Local Craft
Cocktail Drop was born, like so many great ideas, as a lockdown side-hustle. Frustrated by the lack of bar-quality drinks available at home, I decided to make my own. What started as a hobby quickly became an obsession.
I spent months with my head in Cocktail Codex, listening to industry podcasts, and diving deep into forums to learn from the best. I became fascinated with the craft: the history, the science of flavour and temperature, and the precise "look and feel" of a perfect serve. After building up my expertise, I decided it was time to share it with the people of Ashtead.
The Heritage
Many of you will remember the original Ashtead Cocktail Drop. From the beginning, I refused to scrimp on quality—using only premium spirits, authentic liqueurs, and fresh juices. Whether it was the Friday delivery rounds, events like the legendary Grevfest of 2021, or the extra-special artist collaboration, I loved connecting with our local community over a shared love for a great drink.
What’s New?
In many ways, the mission hasn't changed. I am still obsessed with producing beautiful, bar-standard cocktails with a personal touch.
However, to ensure every bottle meets my "Superstar" standards, I’ve refined my approach:
- Small-Batch Focus: I am initially limiting production to exclusive batches released every fortnight.
- The Menu: I’ll maintain a tight collection of signature staples, alongside limited-edition "one-off" drops that experiment with seasonal flavours and produce.
- Collaborations: I am already talking to local producers and spaces to explore ways of taking Cocktail Drop to the next level. Stay tuned!
